CEO & Senior Internet Strategist
Jason is the CEO of Communicopia, a Webby Award winning online strategy and design firm supporting organizations working for sustainability and social change. He leads online vision and strategy engagements for clients including BC Hydro, The Elders, Make Poverty History, Greenpeace Canada, and the United Nations Foundation. A serial entrepreneur, Jason has held senior roles in technology start-ups since 1995.
Jason is the founder and co-convener of the Web of Change conference at Hollyhock and the Social Tech Training at MaRS in Toronto, which for over 8 years have supported innovation, collaboration, and community building in the social technology sector. He is a partner and board member with BC Social Venture Partners, a venture-style philanthropy where 70 partners donate money and time to help innovative non-profits reach sustainability and scale. He was a founding board member of Canadian Business for Social Responsibility and is a long time member of the Social Venture Network in the US.
In 2001 he was awarded as one of Business in Vancouver's "Top 40 Under 40" entrepreneurs and led Communicopia to receiving the BC Technology Industry Association's first "Leadership in Social Responsibility" Award. A popular presenter and speaker, he has been featured in international media such as the New York Times, National Post, CBC Newsworld, The Guardian, CNN.com, CBC's The National, and Yoga Journal. In 2007 his team earned a coveted Webby Award for World's Best Charitable Website for www.NothingButNets.net.
